Manage My Data

Our philosophy: we work closely with our customers to ensure that they get the best performance from DeviceAtlas. We believe device detection is a strategically important capability for organisations, and accordingly our emphasis is on partnership rather than just traditional supplier relations with our customers.

There are three ways to contribute:

  • Unrecognised User agents.

Since the world of mobile devices is fast changing, and new user agent variants are constantly emerging for devices, the best way to ensure continuous (and measurable) improvement is to send us any unrecognised user agents reaching your site, so that we can map them to devices, or create new devices, as needed.

DeviceAtlas provides transparency in device detection, in that if a device is not recognised, a device ID is not returned. This allows accurate measurement of unrecognised traffic, which is a more robust and transparent mechanism than always returning a default device.

In order to ensure continuous improvement, just send us the unrecognised user agents reaching your site, and you will see steady improvements in detection rates. We deliver in excess of 99.8% accuracy of detection when this feedback loop is in place.

(Sending a flat file of UAs to da.tech@mtld.mobi on a weekly basis is ideal, ranked by frequency to assist prioritisation).
  • Ta-Da.

The DeviceAtlas test suite, at http://ta-da.mobi, permits capture of a device user agent and key capabilities via a set of test pages which the user interacts with to confirm the behaviour. This permits entry of new devices, or updating of data on existing devices, through a highly reliable data capture mechanism. The turnaround for availability of the data in the system is next day.
  • Device pages

Via any individual device page, licence holders can view the source data behind every data point, and make an input if desired. All data contributions are stored and weighted on a daily basis to determine whether the result for the property should change.
