Jonathan, Jerry and Sebastian were in Las Vegas from April 15th-19th representing DeviceAtlas at the NAB show. It was incredibly worthwhile to see the most prominent trends in our industries; from AI to robotics, and from cloud to local deployments that are revolutionizing the game for so many companies
Here are some of the key takeaways and observations from the event...
Surveillance and AI
The sheer dominance of solutions powered by artificial intelligence was staggering. One Product Manager we spoke to mentioned the importance of AI within a product offering. We also saw how prevalent AI is becoming within the video analytics space particularly. One company we spoke to even talked about monitoring eye movements to identify what someone is doing while consuming video content - one example was that they could tell if a person was cooking while also watching something on a screen.
We also came across a lot of companies offering video encoding/decoding services for secure transport to endpoint devices.
Podcasting
Unsurprisingly, we saw a substantial number of companies that operate in this space, more so than in previous years. This included everything from equipment to applications to networks.
OTT platforms
We also observed an increase in OTT streaming solutions offering SaaS platforms for creating, scaling and monetizing live streaming services.
Password sharing
Password sharing has becoming hugely topical within the last few years, particularly as many SVoD platforms tackle revenue losses. Netflix appears to be leading the way in using IP intelligence to enforce password sharing policies.
